Winter Bunch

I never get much accomplished during the winter. This year was an exception to the rule :) in the studio I managed to craft a few plates, mugs, and this happy bunch. They are especially meaningful to me because the little guy in yellow has just one arm. I have always felt it important to represent people with different body types in sculpture. My Dad cut off one of his fingers when he was young and he used that stumpy one in beautifulways. Studying art in school i was always struck by fact that most ancient sculpture we adore are missing parts here and there. We are all missing parts here and there, inside and out, and those differences are what make us magical. If artists want to reflect reality, they should reflect that truth.
